Our Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - Divine Beasts Guide is the best source of information for the Divine Beasts of the game, giving you comprehensive details on their background, moveset, and the Chapter entries where they can be used to battle the armies of Calamity Ganon.

Background on the Divine Beasts

In Breath of the Wild, we got introduced to the Divine Beasts, the ancient weapons of the Champions for helping the Knight and the Princess in sealing Calamity Ganon.

We learned that during the previous return of Calamity Ganon, he claimed these powerful weapons for himself, by sending his Blights to defeat the four Champions coming from the Rito, the Gerudo, the Goron, and the Zora.

Hence the Divine Beasts served more as puzzles to be solved in BOTW, culminating in boss fights with the Blight Ganons.

Experience Battles Using the Divine Beasts

In the Age of Calamity, we can experience first-hand how it feels to do battle with the armies of Ganon using the Divine Beasts. In this game's timeline, they were never consumed by Calamity Ganon, as the Champions, with the help of other heroes, triumphed over the Blights.

This opens up new and exciting gameplay mechanics and quests that can help us appreciate how powerful and useful they are in the fight against Ganon.

In your gameplay, you will experience various challenges like defeating a large number of enemies within a time-limit, capturing a number of outposts while maintaining your health, or defending a base from attacks while attacking the enemy's main outpost. There is even a Chapter entry where you can use a Divine Beast to defeat a Blight Ganon.

Receiving Aid from the Divine Beasts

In the Age of Calamity, not only do you use the Divine Beasts to battle, but you will also experience scenarios where they help you in capturing outposts or defeating large enemies.

In the scene below, we can see that Vah Rudania captured an Outpost for us. We can actually see his Magma Rain attack falling from the sky and into the enemy outpost.

In the scene below, Link fights a Guardian when suddenly a blast came from the sky, destroying the Guardian, with the help of Van Naboris.

These two kinds of experiences, being able to use the Divine Beasts in battle and actually seeing them in action, enrich their role in the story of the game. They are no longer puzzles or dungeons that you have to unlock.
