Our Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity - Hylian Blacksmith Guide is the best source of information for the Hylian Blacksmith services of the game, giving you comprehensive details on their mechanics and features.

Among all of the services in the game, the Hylian Blacksmith Guild is the most important and could be the one you will visit most because it provides services related to weapons.

Cedro the Blacksmith: So ya want to improve a weapon, huh? Just leave it to me!

The Blacksmith provides the following services:

  • Fuse Weapons - the core upgrade mechanic of the game. It allows you to upgrade a chosen weapon by consuming other weapons. In this consumption, it regains some of their characteristics.
  • Raise Weapon-Level Limit - this service is initially unavailable and will become unlocked once you progress farther in your gameplay.
    • The default maximum level of a weapon is Level 20
    • The first unlock of this service will extend the max level to 25
    • The second unlock of this service will extend the max level to 30
  • Remove Seals - similar to the service above, this is also initially unavailable and will become unlocked later in your gameplay. It provides two kinds of seal removal, both of which you have to unlock separately.
    • Remove all seals - for a price, you can remove all the seals in a weapon.
    • Remove one seal - for a price, you can remove one seal in a weapon.
  • Octo-Polish - use this service to polish the rusty weapons you acquire in the game.
  • Sell - Sell weapons to earn extra rupees.

Fuse Weapons

Weapon Fusion is a core topic and our treatment of it is in-depth. So we created a separate guide for a comprehensive and thorough presentation of the way it works.

View our Weapon Fusion Guide to learn how it works.

Raise Weapon-Level Limit

By default, the maximum level of a weapon is Level 20. However, once you unlock this service from the Blacksmith, he will be able to extend the maximum level.

Cedro the Blacksmith: If yer lookin' to draw out the latent power of a weapon, ya came to the right place!

First Unlock - Raise Max Level to 25

To unlock the first maximum level, and extend it to Level 25, you need to complete the quest A Monumental Undertaking.

  • A Monumental Undertaking - Gain Ability to Increase Max Weapon Level

You can see below where it is located on the map.

After unlocking the service, you will have the ability to extend the max level to level 25. Note though that you can only select a weapon that is already level 20. Any weapon below level 20 will be ignored. In the scenario below, the Bow of Light is currently level 20 and we would like to unlock its max level to 25.

The cost of enhancement is as follows:

  • Pay 450 Rupees
  • Provide 30 items from the Fish group
  • Provide 50 items from the Monster parts group
  • Provide 100 items from the Trophy group

You have the flexibility to mix and match the items, as long as you meet the total counts required.

After paying the cost, your weapon will now be upgradeable to level 25.

Cedro the Blacksmith: A good weapon! Always glad to help.

Once your weapon reaches level 25, it will gain its first inherent seal. This is the fourth seal that you can see in the weapon above.

Second Unlock - Raise Max Level to 30

The process for unlocking the maximum level to level 30 is the same as above, except you will need a different quest. The quest you need to complete is The Legendary Blacksmith.

  • The Legendary Blacksmith - Gain Ability to Increase Max Weapon Level

You can see below where it is located on the map.

After following the same process we described above, you will now be able to raise a weapon up to level 30.

Once your weapon reaches level 30, it will gain its second inherent seal. For the Master Sword, the inherent seals are as follows:

  1. Damage at Full Hearts: +8% - unlocked at level 25
  2. Heal a Percentage of Damage Dealt - unlocked at level 30

Remove Seals

The Remove Seals service is an exciting feature that adds engagement to players who love collecting weapons and creating their best versions. This is very similar to the Mystic mechanic in Diablo 3 but even better. Because there is no randomness involved and it gives you the total freedom to adjust the weapon as you please.

The guide below will assume that you are already familiar with the concept of seals and how weapon fusion works. If not yet, view our Weapon Fusion Guide before continuing.

Cedro the Blacksmith: A good weapon! Always glad to help.

By default, this service is not available. However, once you have unlocked both, you will have the option to:

  • Remove One Seal
  • Remove All Seals

We will cover both scenarios below.

Remove All Seals

This is the first service that you can unlock. You need to complete the Quest Secret of the Rito Artisans to unlock this.

  • Secret of the Rito Artisans - Gain Ability to Remove All Seals

You can see below where it is located on the map.

You need to pay for the removal of all seals:

  • 540 Rupees
  • 40 items from the Fruit group
  • 40 items from the Mushroom group
  • 40 items from the Meat group
  • 60 items from the Monster part group
  • 200 items from the Trophy group

Remove One Seal

This is the second service that you can unlock. You need to complete the Quest Caring for the Statues to unlock this.

  • Caring for the Statues - Gain Ability to Remove a Chosen Seal

You can see below where it is located on the map.

You need to pay for the removal of one seal:

  • 270 Rupees
  • 20 items from the Fruit group
  • 20 items from the Mushroom group
  • 20 items from the Meat group
  • 30 items from the Monster part group
  • 100 items from the Trophy group

Octo-Polish

In BOTW, we got introduced to the mechanic where finding rusted weapons can lead to better ones when fed to Octoroks. This mechanic comes back as a paid service from the Blacksmith.

Cedro the Blacksmith: Believe it or not, I learned this by studyin' Octoroks... It'll get those rusty weapons lookin' good as new!

To begin the service, select the rusted weapon from your inventory.

Of course, you need to pay for the polishing of the rusted weapon.

  • 225 Rupees
  • 5 items from the Mineral group
  • 30 items from the Monster part group
  • 100 items from the Trophy group

Similar to earlier payments, you can mix and match the items, as long as they belong to the same group and you satisfy the total count required. When you are ready, continue and confirm.

Cedro the Blacksmith: Just to be sure, this is the weapon ya want to get the old Octo-polish treatment, right?

And behold, you got a new and better weapon! From our experience playing the game, it's always best to just hunt for the weapons as rewards - you will save on your Rupees and materials. Plus, the loot hunt is best done by actually hunting.
